True North Clients Named Top Hospital Marketers

We're thrilled to announce that three True North clients—KishHealth System Director of Marketing and PR Theresa Komitas, University of Utah Health Senior Director of Marketing Dennis Jolley, and Care New England Health System Vice President of Marketing Communications May Kernan—have been recognized as leaders in the field.


2014 Top Hospital Marketers

Sponsored by DTC Perspectives, the 2014 Top Hospital Marketer awards recognize the best and brightest healthcare marketers as nominated by their peers. Theresa and Dennis were selected as a Top Hospital Marketer following a lengthy process that included industry-wide nominations and a review by key industry insiders and marketing executives. Both will be honored at the Hospital Marketing National Conference in Baltimore on June 12.

The Top Hospital Marketers award recognizes extraordinary hospital marketers who drive innovation, spearhead effective creative material, and work toward better branding for their organizations. Honorees are judged based on industry reputation, accomplishments, innovation, and notoriety among their peers, partners, and media.

Lifetime Achievement Award

During its annual conference on May 15, the New England Society for Healthcare Communications (NESHCo) awarded May Kernan of Care New England Health System (Providence, RI) with the prestigious Evans Houghton Memorial Award. The award honors an individual for exemplary performance and significant contributions in the field of health care public relations; selfless dedication to other practitioners without any thought of personal gain and boldly challenging themselves and their peers to excel, with the highest standards of conduct and professionalism.

A 35-year veteran of healthcare marketing and communications, Kernan's experience in health care includes her position as senior vice president of marketing communications first with Women & Infants Hospital and later, after Care New England was formed, with the entire health system. Kernan has been an active member of several professional groups, including the Public Relations Society of America, the Hospital Association of Rhode Island, and NESHCO, where she has been a member for more than a decade and a member of the board for six years.
