Want to expand your skillset? Impress your C-suite? Work more efficiently? Well, you’re in luck. The internet is bursting with useful classes and certifications that can help you streamline your marketing efforts and improve content.

Everywhere you look you can find tools and software designed to make you more productive, organized or efficient when it comes to getting work done. Online certifications are one resource you shouldn’t ignore.

While you might shy away from certifications because you think they might be too time consuming, many of these options are free and can be started, worked on, and completed at your leisure.

The result: You can improve your talents so that you’re a more efficient employee and coworker.

Three of our favorites at True North Custom are Codecademy, HubSpot INBOUND, and Google Analytics Individual Qualification.

Codecademy

Website: Codecademy.com

Price: Free

Time Required: Varies greatly depending on course and experience level

Description: Codecademy is an online interactive platform that teaches users basic coding. You can choose to learn multiple programming languages, including JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Python, Java, and more.

“As digital marketing continues to evolve, there are more opportunities to create websites, blog posts, and landing pages using less and less code, says Kayla Anderson, Marketing Manager at True North Custom. “After taking Codecademy classes, I can take the initiative when small changes or edits need to be made—without having to load these simple tasks on the back of our already-busy UX designer. If you have anything to do with digital marketing, I’d recommend learning basic HTML at the least.”

HubSpot Inbound

Website: academy.hubspot.com

Price: Free

Time Required: 4 to 8 hours, depending on your personal knowledge and test preparation

Description: This course covers the fundamentals of inbound marketing, including SEO, blogging, landing pages, lead nurturing, conversion analysis, and reporting. This certification is designed to improve your overall inbound marketing strategy.

“HubSpot’s inbound certification has helped me articulate the business case for investing more in marketing and how to get the ball rolling,” Kayla says. “It provides an excellent framework for organizing campaigns and measuring results.”

Google Analytics Individual Qualification

Website: support.google.com

Price: Free (with a Google Partners account)

Time Required: 8 to16 hours, depending on your personal knowledge and test preparation

Description: Google Analytics is a web analytics service that tracks and reports on website traffic and performance. It will help you determine how well your website is doing and provide you with information you need to improve your digital presence.

“Google Analytics provides us with solid data that we can use to improve our clients’ digital presence as well as our own, says Donny Stiefel, Digital Marketing Specialist at True North Custom. “If you plan on investing your time and money into a website, it only makes sense to track your progress with a tool like Google Analytics.
